This is what I had wanted to say to Bob – but didn’t get the chance – I’m sure he now knows, but I will share –
Dear Bob
I want to tell you that I love you
I want to thank you for seeing my sister that day eating the ice cream cone and knowing she was your true love
Surely, you never expected to end up with us 3 wives in the long run!
From the day you came over to meet us, Mick as you fondly call her, sitting on the chair, arms crossed – evaluating if you were good enough.
Me, I remember the day , I was on the steps, peeking down to see who this guy was that my big sister was so excited about , whom she was going to marry.
I am so glad you passed the audition!
And we all welcomed you into the Dyer family.
Speaking for my mom who was an angel, and my somewhat difficult dad, I know they loved you as if you were their own.
And you were – to all of us –
There was no one else like you ever in our lives -
I thank you for so much for all of the excursions -
Thank you for being my big brother, you taught me to drive, you took me on your bike for many adventures, you introduced me to some music I never heard before
You gave me a scope for my boyfriend when you heard he liked hunting (ugh)
And the many many trips camping, the Green voltz wagon packed with people and clothes - the Walt Whitman bridge - and Florida and to parks and zoos , the mountains and places I have never been, it was you Bob that introduced me to real love, the love you and lin have.
I want to thank you Bob, for that night you spent hours with me and merc in the basement – preparing for your wedding day.
Thank you bob - , I will always have you in my heart – thank you for teaching me to dance.
