Obituary of Mary Theresa Ellis

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

A mother is the truest friend we will ever have.

Mary Theresa Maloney Faust Ellis was "Delco's Mom" who had an endearing, zesty, spunk for life. There was no one like her. She turned an easy smile into a side-splitting belly laugh. Mary kept us in line with tough love, a caring heart and listening ears. She made you a better person, a better caregiver, and a better friend. The goal isn't to live forever; It's to create a legacy that will.

On August 13, 2021, Mary passed away surrounded by those that loved her and entered into eternity. Our loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind. One day we will know how lucky we were to have known her with wonder, not grief.

Mary was born in Collingdale and loved it so much she never left. She raised her children in the home she grew up in. To the world, Mary may have been just a mother, but to her family she was the world. She was there for her kids no matter what they needed; from cleaning, organizing, babysitting or just being her family's biggest cheerleader. Her greatest joy in life was definitely being a Grandmom or Me Mom as the grandkids called her. She couldn't get enough and had a story about every adventure, and of all of her grandbabies whenever you spoke to her.

You don't get the nickname Delco's Mom by not leaving a lasting impression on every person you meet. She dedicated her life in service to family and community. Her thirty-year journey began volunteering at Collingdale Fire Company Ambulance followed by Darby Fire Company Ambulance before moving on to the Mercy-Fitzgerald Paramedics where she worked at; Sharon Hill, Lansdowne, Folcroft, Yeadon, Briarcliffe, Darby and Clifton Heights Fire Companies. Mary was an EMT and CPR Instructor who still found time to work at Norwood Fire Company Ambulance. Mary gave away her wealth of knowledge, and skills to every young, new EMT, Medic, Fireman or Police Officer with everything from lifesaving instructions to the simple things like "Tuck your shirt in", "Where is your radio" and "Always know where you're going".

ALWAYS LAUGH! That's one thing Mary definitely did. She loved to make people laugh. She even graduated from clown school and used the healing power of laughter to visit and reassure hospital patients, children or anyone who was down on their luck that needed a "pick me up."

Mary's legacy will continue in every person she ever met. Remember to always be willing to listen, offer advice, help, to never think too highly of yourself and to laugh. If you do this, Mary will be with us always.

Mary is predeceased by her parents James and Mary Maloney, brother Ed Maloney and her nephew Matthew Maloney.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband Mike Ellis. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; Jason and his wife Karen Faust, Jimmy Faust, Jennifer and her husband Dave Gilliard and their father Bill Faust. She was also the step mother of; Melissa Ellis, Michael Ellis Jr., Nicole Ellis, Billy Faust and Susan Faust. She is the proud Me-Mom of Lily, Charlotte, Ariella, James, Mackenzie, David, Gabriella, Kinley, Hannah, Mikayla, Morgan, and Maggie Mae and sister of; James and his wife Bernadette Maloney, Joseph and his wife Jodie Maloney, Eileen and her husband Dennis Menardi, Michael and his wife Kathleen Maloney, Patrick and his wife Lynn Maloney and her sister-in-law Mary Henry Maloney, Mary is also survived and will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.

The time honored tradition of reuniting those we love with nature will be held privately.

Burn what is left of me and scatter my ashes to the winds. If you must bury something let it be my faults and my weaknesses. Give my sins to the devil, my soul to God. If by chance you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs it and let my life continue on in you.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for a donation in Mary's memory be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center. https://www.foxchase.org/giving/how-to-give

To help create lasting memories of Mary for her family please bring your favorite 4x6 photo of Mary and an index card with a memory to be placed in a photo album.
