Obituary of Ruth E. Allen

Ruth E. Allen age 99 of Woodlyn PA passed away on February 16, 2020 at Lima Estates in Media. Born in South Philadelphia and raised in Southwest Philadelphia, Ruth was a graduate of Overbrook High School, class of 1938. A devoted Christian, Ruth was a former member of the Southwestern United Presbyterian Church where she served as a Children's Sunday School teacher; she also previously attended Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Wallingford and most recently Aldan Union Church. Ruth retired in 1988 from Grace Park Elementary School in Ridley Township where she worked as the first secretary for over 30 years. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her husband Norman K. Allen and her 2 brothers C. Russell Doherty and Thomas "Bud" Doherty. Survivors: Loving mother of Janet Guss and Bruce N. (Marianne) Allen, cherished grandmother of Jason (Anne) Guss, Jesse (Colleen) Guss, Deborah (Daniel) Farren, Mark Allen and Sarah (Scott) Kallal and great grandmother of 16.
