Businessman and Activist Joseph P. Egan, Jr. Joseph P. Egan, Jr., age 80 of Folcroft, died October 13, 2017, surrounded by his immediate family. He was the son of the late Joseph P. Egan Sr and Lillian Egan. He is survived by his loving wife Veronica (nee Ronnie Carson ) of 53 years and his beloved children Joseph III ( Rebecca ) of Columbia, SC and Monica ( Byron III ) of Concord Mass. He was Poppy to his Grandchildren, Byron IV and Lillian. He is survived by his three sisters Margaret O'Donnell (Constance Pennock ), Elizabeth Egan and Katherine Vercessi along with several nieces and nephews Joe was born in Philadelphia and lived in Folcroft for more than 50 years where he served on the borough council for four years and was President for two of these years. He was currently Secretary of the Folcroft Historical Commission Joe was a graduate of La Salle University (BS in Accounting) and Widener University where he received his MBA . He was the owner and president of Pratt Placement Service, a personnel recruiting firm. His professional memberships include Rotary International (He was the past president of the Frankford Rotary) and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, along with a number of personnel associations. Joe was a music lover. He sang with his college glee club and with the Media Chorale as well as St George's Choir where he sang for many years . During the winters he belonged to the Blessed Sacrament Choir in Seminole, Florida Joe was an active member of his parish. He proudly served with the Knights of Columbus, (4th degree De Lasalle council ) and was president of the Holy Name Society . Winters were spent at their home in Madeira Beach, Florida. He and Ronnie enjoyed traveling throughout Europe with his sister, Marge and Connie Pennock. Visitation: 8:15-9:45 AM, Thursday, October 19, 2017 at St. George Church, Lamont Ave., Glenolden, PA 19036. Funeral will follow at 10 AM. Burial will be private.
