Obituary of Merle C. Smith

Merle C. "PB" Smith Merle C. Smith, 71, departed this life on July 3, 2017 peacefully, surrounded by his loving daughters. He lived in Drexel Hill for most of his life and graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1963. He worked as an electrician for Amtrak for over 20 years and always had a funny story about working down at the station. Merle enjoyed spending time with his family, his two furry grandchildren, Micky and Harry, and fixing things. He always enjoyed reading the daily obituaries. Always a big fan of Philly sports teams... Go Eagles! He also loved listening some good music and coast to coast AM, while indulging in some 420. Everyone who met him always said he was the coolest/ baddest dude in town! He always eagerly awaited the summertime so that he could sink his teeth into some Jersey tomatoes. But more than anything, he loved his five children and two grand children, and they loved him more than anything in the world. He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Verna Smith. Survivors: Older brother, David (Judy) Smith, loving children; Melissa, Kathleen, Amanda (Brent), Jennifer, and Paul, and two granddaughters, Dylan and Penelope.
