Obituary of Joyce Edwina Coombs

Joyce Edwina Coombs, 66, of St. Thomas, Jamaica passed away December 4, 2010 in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. Joyce had lived in Tallahassee for 25 years and leaves behind many devoted friends and family. A lover of education, she was the first of her family to graduate from college earning her Masters Degree in International Relations from Long Island University in New York. She worked for the Florida Department of Commerce as an International Trade Representative which saw her travel all over the world. She later worked for Leon County Schools as a teacher's aide. She was also active in the Florida League of Women's Voters. She was preceded in death by her mother Avis Edwina Coombs and her father Vernon Edmund Coombs both of Jamaica. She is survived by her son Anthony, her brother Howard, her great aunt Cynthia, her sister-in-law Sadie, cousins Elizabeth Bailey and Andrea Milligan, and nephews Troy, Jason, and Matthew Coombs along with three great nephews and two great nieces, 4 grand- nephews, and 1 grand- niece. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 10 AM at Saint John Episcopal Church, 211 North Monroe Street, Tallahassee, FL.
