Obituary of David Ray Pearce

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Ray Pearce Jr., 46, died unexpectedly in Sea Side Heights, NJ on Saturday, October 1st, 2016. David is survived by parents, Christine (Snisky) Pearce of Glenolden, PA and David Ray Sr. and Velma L. (Finney) Pearce of Sunbury PA; sons, Christopher Robert Holt of Norwood, PA and Francis James Pearce of Darby Township, PA. He is also survived by three siblings, Katrina (and Kevin) Lopez and Jennifer (and Kenneth) Alonso of Manasquan, NJ and Michael Sr. (and Elizabeth) Pearce of Springfield, PA; nieces and nephews, Alexandra, Joshua, Danielle, Jeremy, Benjamin, Madison, Tyler, Michael, Robert and Cadyn as well as Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. David was born in Philadelphia, PA to David and M. Christine Pearce where he lived for the first part of his childhood before moving to the Briarcliffe area of DelCo, PA. In 1989, he graduated from Cardinal O'Hara High School where he played Football. David met his first love during high school and she gave him a beloved son for whom he brimmed with pride and love. He delighted in hearing of Chris' accomplishments and was grateful for his remarkable character. After suffering an injury that prematurely ended his football career, he looked to other professions. Always strong and good with his hands, David followed the lead of a close family friend and became a plumber, eventually branching out into all areas of contracting. There was nothing he couldn't learn to do and in recent months, he was proud of a job site masonry project that was as beautiful as it was well done. In 1999, he welcomed his second son who also brought him great joy. David's life took him on unexpected journeys; but in his heart, he loved his family fiercely. He was ambivalent in navigating life; so he threw himself into the hard labor of his work. He NEVER failed to avail himself to ANYONE in need. He had a giving spirit and did everything with a happy heart and a positive disposition. Relationship was paramount to David and he had great intentions. He also mistakenly thought he had plenty of time. He lived passionately, loved deeply, seized the moments and was content with very little. He never forgot a birthday nor anniversary; and, while he wasn't obtuse about it, he kept close accounts of each milestone in the lives of his children, his siblings and their families and consistently prayed for them. He lived simply and moved frequently; but his most cherished possessions were a devotional book and a Gideon Bible. He carried these with him and the frayed bookmark held the page of his last day of life. A 10:30 am Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, October 8th 2016 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Secane, PA. Visitation will be available beginning at 9:30 am. Interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery Springfield, PA. Repast will follow. The family would like to thank all who have so graciously shared memories of time spent with him. These have softened the sting of this loss.
