Obituary of Leonard J. Carr, Jr.

Leonard Joseph Carr Jr., 52, was born 4/17/64, and was a resident of Norwood, PA. Peacefully passed away, surrounded by family, after a long hard battle with brain cancer on August 22, 2016. Leonard "Doc" Carr was known by many to be a caring and dedicated husband, father, and brother; a generous loving soul; and an avid fisherman. He worked for over 20 years at Eastern University for Sodexo, where he was a friend and mentor to many students and co-workers. His passion for life was infectious and his penchant for storytelling was unparalleled. Doc was happiest on a dock or a boat with a fishing rod in his hand and a friend by his side. His willingness to help others was a quality that was admired by all those who knew him. He will always be remembered with love and kindness by everyone blessed enough to have known him. And always remember, GYFSO! He was preceded by his father: Leonard Carr Sr., his mother: Mary Elizabeth Davis Carr, and his loyal companion "Big Dog" Jake. He is survived by his wife: Barbara Carr (nee Smith), children Kristin Johns, Zachary Johns (Nicole), Casey Johns, & Taylor Hunter-Hiller (Colin). His grandchildren: Zachary Daniel Johns Jr. & Carter Joel Kain. His siblings: MaryBeth Melvin (Charles), Suzanne Griffith (Dennis), Deborah Torres, Flossie Cowan (Larry), and many nieces & nephews. Memorial Mass: 10am Saturday at St Gabriel's Church, 233 Mohawk Ave. Norwood, PA. 19074. Visitation: 6-9pm Fri at McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home, 343 S. Chester Pike Glenolden, PA. 19036 and 9-10 Sat in the church.
