Obituary of Joseph Rogocki

Joseph Rogocki, A lifelong resident of Glenolden, age 90, died on July 18, 2016. Beloved husband of 67 years to Kathryn (nee Moncrief), loving father of Catherine Frost, Mary Ellen (Steve) Overstreet, Joann Kroll and Joseph. Adoring Pop-Pop to Samantha Overstreet and Rebecca Rogocki . Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Mikolaj Rogocki and Mary (nee Lyczewska) Rogocka. He was predeceased by his brother Henry and sister Helen Faustino and is survived by his sisters Dorothy Mazurkiewicz, Irene Ochmanowicz, and Eleanor Molitor and nieces and nephews. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force as staff sergeant in the 330th Bomber Group. He received numerous medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. After the service, he was employed by Arnold Company doing appliance repairs and later worked for Electrolux before retirement. He was a good man and devoted husband. He was an avid stamp collector and affiliated with Boy Scout troop 29. His retirement brought out his passion for vegetable and flower gardening. He was a fixture and the neighborhood kids always ran over to see Joe when he was out in the garden. He also enjoyed tinkering and could fix just about anything and had a passion for woodworking.
