Leah T Henzel, 89, formerly of Ridley Park and Wallingford, died in Burlington Vermont, March 2, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Blanche V Straub Thompson and George Elvin Thompson, both of Minersville PA. After graduating the University of Pennsylvania in 1947, she gave up her acceptance to Women's Medical College to marry John H Henzel and begin family life. She became a physics teacher at John Bartram and Ridley High Schools in the 1960s and in Montpelier VT in the 1980s. In 1970, she had moved to Stowe, Vermont to begin a business with husband John at the StoweAway Lodge. In the 1980s until 2012 she was an active Avon representative. She also was a home-care-provider for the Vermont Nursing Association (VNA) formany years. Leah was an accomplished soprano who spent many years singing and soloing in a variety of church choirs, particularly the Stowe Community Church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John, a daughter Linda of Montpelier, VT, a son John Michael of Stowe, VT, and a son Thomas of Philadelphia (formerly of Lansdowne and Wallingford); five step-grandchildren, five grandsons, and six great grandchildren in Wallingford and Media. In addition, she is survived by her sister Gene V Goudreau of Linwood, NJ and her brother Elmer L Thompson of Maris Grove, Glen Mills (formerly of Ridley Park). Interment is Monday, March 7 at 11am in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, 733 Third Ave, Suite 510, New York, NY 10017.
