Obituary of Betty Jane Hassel

Betty Jane Hassel "BJ" age 80 of Glenolden passed away October 5, 2010 at home. Born in Philadelphia, She was raised in Collingdale. She graduated Collingdale High School Class of 1947. She was a devoted homemaker and previously worked for Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company. Mrs. Hassel was a longtime member of First Glenolden Presbyterian Church for over 50 years; she was also an original Briarcliff Swim Club Member for over 50 years. When her children where young she was a member of Glenolden PTA and instrumental in starting the school library. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed cross-stitching, knitting, traveling to Ocean City and the Phillies. She also liked to attend the Ridley YMCA for daily water exercise. She loved to spend time with her family especially attending her grandchildren school events and was an anxiously awaiting the arrival of her new great grandchild. Beloved wife of 59 years of Ray Hassel. Loving mother of George (Nancy) Hassel and Brian (Gail) Hassel. Cherished grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 1.
