Obituary of Robert Gordon Sharpe

Robert G. Sharpe, age 87, a longtime resident of Glenolden, was taken into Christ's loving arms on February 12, 2015. Bob was a devoted husband and a caring father and grandfather who loved being with his children and grandchildren, spending time with many of them at the seashore and on the golf course. Bob was a lifelong passionate golfer, and a music enthusiast who taught himself to play the organ. He shared his talents by teaching all his children, and others, to sing and to appreciate especially classical and sacred music. He was a devout catholic and parishioner of St. George Church Parish for over 55 years where he was choir director for over 40 years. He retired from General Electric as a production manager, and later from Boeing as an operations supervisor. For the last two years, Bob was a resident of St. Francis Country House in Darby where he was famous for his good humor. Despite his health issues, Bob made it his mission to greet arriving visitors and staff with his winning smile and unflagging optimism. His hopeful and cheerful personality were his trademarks, and continually graced those around him. The family wishes to recognize the care provided by the staff of St Francis and also by DaVita Dialysis in Morton. Robert is predeceased by his wife Anna Mae Sharpe, son Stephen Sharpe, brother Bill Sharpe, sister Vera Louise Coe, grandson Edward Matthews, and great great granddaughter, Rebecca Rajala. Survivors: Loving father of Maureen (Robert) Wudarzewski, Rosemary (Lowell Gibbs) Sharpe, Patricia Sharpe, Margaret (Mike) Glacken, Bob (Sally) Sharpe, Kathleen Sharpe, Kevin Sharpe, Michael Sharpe, Diane (Kat) Sharpe and David (Mary) Sharpe. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Kristen, Robert Jr., Joe, Maggie, Elizabeth, Charles, Matthew, Raymond, Kate, Jenna, Maya, Michael Jr., Corey, Joanna, Danielle and Shannon. Great grandfather of 17. Great great grandfather of 2. Dear brother of Thomas (Annette) Sharpe and Richard (Barbara) Sharpe.
