Obituary of Hammond R. Kochersperger

Hammond R. Kochersperger, 87 of Philadelphia, PA. died Sat., August 24, 2013 at Leader Manor Care Nursing home in Yeadon, PA. where he resided for two years and three month.
Born January 5, 1926 at 5831 Woodland Ave. Philadelphia, PA at his grandparent's home; he was the son of the late Harry H. and Elsie McHenry Kochersperger.
In 1933 his parents moved their young family to 1535 South 58th St, Philadelphia, PA. He remained a resident until October 2008 when he entered the Sterling Nursing home in Media, PA. He attended Westminster Presbyterian Church from 1926 to 1976, joined Siloam Methodist Church from 1976 to its closing finally joining Aldan Union Church, Aldan, PA in 1988 to his death.
He was drafted in 1944 to serve in WWII. He went into the US. Army Corp of Engineers, COA 187 Engineer Combat BN. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Returning home he worked for the B&O Railroad for a year. In 1948 he was employed at McIlvain Lumber Company and retired in 1990 after 42 years of loyal service. He was a life member of the Carpenters Union.
Predeceased by his brother Harry Randall Kochersperger previously of Lancaster, PA.
Survivors: Devoted wife of 29 years, 7months and 19 days Catherine E. Heller of Philadelphia, PA., brothers Milton H. Kochersperger of Williamstown, NJ. and Chester R. Kochersperger of Secane, PA. Sisters Mrs. Elsie Kennedy of Lancaster, PA. and Mrs. Anna Jane Welsh of Gettysburg, PA. 11 nieces and nephews, 33 great nieces and nephews and numerous great great nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: Saturday, 6-7PM at Herbert W. Best VFW #928 1805 MacDade Blvd. Folsom, PA. 19033
Visitation: Saturday, 5-6PM at the VFW.
Burial: Private
