Obituary of Thomas J. Sullivan

Thomas J. Sullivan, age 90 of Glenolden passed away on September 25, 2012 at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Darby, PA. due to a ruptured aorta, the result of an aneurysm. Mr. Sullivan was born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia and was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament parish. He was a forty-month veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps, two years overseas in England and Northern Ireland. He was a graduate of West Catholic HS in 1940 and St. Joseph's University in 1950. His varied twenty-eight years career as a US Government employee included 5 years as an Investigator for the Inspector General and 4 years assigned overseas concluding with a two-year posting in Frankfurt, Germany accompanied by his wife and four younger children. Upon his retirement in 1975, he turned to his love for writing, penning many disciplines and formats from poetry to screen plays for the sheer delight of writing. He read 4 newspapers daily including the New York Times, admiring the writing abilities of their op-ed columnists. His family fondly recalls his keen wit and love for singing. Above all Tom's greatest happiness came from his wife Miriam, their children and grandchildren. Predeceased by his siblings John Sullivan, Kay Tomlinson and Margie Curran. Survivors: Beloved husband of Miriam (nee Schlitte), Loving Father of Mark (Andrea), Nile (Barbara), Valerie (John) Molmer, Linda Sullivan (Kevin LaPergola), Julie (Michael) Sidoti, Colleen (Frank) Bannister, 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
