Obituary of Muriel E. Jones

Muriel E. Jones, 90, died peacefully March 19, 2012 at her home in Prospect Park. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Lucy Shuler Jones and Stayton Jones and sister of the late Alice Jones Nearing (Homer). Muriel was the dear friend and long time companion of the late Fred Riccobene. Muriel was a resident of Prospect Park for 61 years and a member of Prospect Hill Baptist Church. She had a long career in bookkeeping and secretarial work at several businesses in Philadelphia. She was also a trained stenotype operator. Muriel loved animals and supported many charities related to their care. She was known for her gifts of beautiful needlework by all her friends and neighbors. Muriel enjoyed working in her yard, eating out with her large network of friends, TV game shows, trips to Shady Maple and volunteering in her community. Her smile lit up the world.
