John Robert Faust, Sr., born November 21st, 1929, passed away peacefully at the age 94 on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024 in Broomall, PA with family by his side. John was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania the son of William Elias and Bertha Bender Faust. John was born into a large family (typical for the day) including eight brothers and four sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles, Edward, William, Junior, Bruce, Harry, Dave and Al, Sisters Ruth, Sis, Calista and Bertha. John moved to West Philadelphia at the onset of WW II. John was educated in the Philadelphia School District, leaving in Grade 10 to work full time for ACME Markets to whom he worked for the 46 years, becoming a produce manager and Union shop steward. John eloped to Elkton, MD with the love of his life (Mom) on June 16th, 1951. A love affair which started on George's hill in the Fairmount Park when Pat knocked him off his sled on a truly amazing day on the snowy hill. The rest is a beautiful history. John was an avid lover of all sports, especially his beloved Eagles and Phillies. Notre Dame football was also a huge part of his life, even though the Pottsville Maroons beat Notre Dame and the Four Horsemen in 1925 and were the "true" 1925 World Champions! (#Robbed)!!! John loved to play cards, league bowling, (50+ years in multiple leagues), throwing horseshoes and traveling with Collingdale Swim Club horse shoe team. He loved playing his football pools and daily number, and 50/50s. He did share of winning! John also loved to throw darts, and mostly any game possible. John was a very compassionate man, running bowling beef and beer event for any family in need. John loved to run head boat fishing trips that he would arrange and setup with food, beer and a fun day of fishing on the Royal Flush in Wildwood, NJ. Crabbing in Rock Hall, MD was another great day for John, family and friends. John also played softball at White Rock Field in Southwest Philly with ACME crew. John was a dedicated, hardworking family man who loved spending time with all of his family. When he retired in 1994 after 46 years, John focused his life on his family and led the charge. John's involvement with his family was a true testament to who John was. John's family consisted of his loving wife of 73 years – Patricia (Scott) Faust who preceded him in death on April 1, 2024, four children – Joanne (Craig) Thompson, John (Cindy) Faust, Jr., Stephanie Faust, and Patricia (Donald) Kaut.
