Obituary of Clifford Sherman Engel

Clifford Sherman Engel III, "Cliff" age 68 a longtime resident of Glenolden passed away on July 9, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. Cliff graduated from Interboro High School class of 1973 and Delaware County Community College Municipal Police Academy. He dedicated his life to public safety, starting out as a career Prospect Park Policeman in 1981 rising through the ranks to Chief of Police at the time of his retirement in 2019. He was President of Delaware County Police Chiefs Association in 2017. Cliff was a Lifetime Member of Glenolden Fire Company where he served as Fire Chief and Company President. He was formerly the Glenolden Fire Marshall for many years and currently served as Mayor of Glenolden, dedicating his life to bettering the community he loved so dearly until his passing. He loved to relax at his " Happy Place " in Pot Nets with his family and friends whether he was tinkering on his boat, fishing, or just hanging out in his carport with a beer in his hand. He is predeceased by his parents Clifford and June Engel Jr. Survivors: Beloved husband of 48 years of Patty (nee Samar) Engel, Loving father of Kelly (Scott) Trainer, Marybeth (Matt) Kushnir, Sarah (Phil Vaughan) Engel and Clifford J. (Jane) Engel, dear brother of Susan(Thomas) Peet and step son of Jamie Nachman, cherished grandfather of Cole, Emily, Madison, Avery, Cecily, Jacob and Hudson, Funeral Mass: 11am Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at St George's Church, Lamont Ave. Glenolden, PA. 19036. Viewing: 5-8pm Monday, July 15, 2024 at McCausland Garrity Marchesani Funeral Home, 343 S. Chester Pike Glenolden, PA. 19036 and 9:45am-10:45am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at St. George Church.
