Veronica A. Barton "Ronnie" age 81 a longtime resident of Sharon Hill passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2024. Born and raised in the Meadows section of Southwest Philadelphia, Ronnie graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls. She retired from Fernwood Cemetery where she worked as the Office Manager for over 20 years and formerly worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Philadelphia. Devoted to her community, she was a long-time volunteer with the Sharon Hill Ramblers, The Sharon Hill 4th of July Assoc., and The Darby Fire Patrol #2 Women's Auxiliary. Ronnie's biggest commitment to service came with the Special Olympics of Delaware County. She became active very early in her son Michael's life and continued until her passing. Beginning with Field Days at the Summit School in Media, to the Tuesday Night Track Group at Swarthmore College and other locations, to floor hockey at Don Guanella, Horseback Riding at Thorncroft, and the long distance running and golf programs for Delaware County, Ronnie stepped up and helped wherever and however needed. With countless trips to the Summer Games at Penn State, The Marine Corp Marathon, The Fall Fest at Villanova and distance runs in Rhode Island, Ronnie supported her son Michael and his fellow athletes with rides, managing eligibility issues, coaching and her ever-present words of encouragement. She enjoyed her family and spending many years watching Chuck participate in Ramblers football, baseball and basketball with The Sharon Hill Athletic Association, Bonner Football, St. John's University football, Michael's endeavors in Special Olympics for 49 years and her grandchildren's baseball, soccer, lacrosse, swim meets, and Boy Scout Activities. In the eyes of her sons, Ronnie's legacy will always be her unconditional love and support. She always provided what they needed and knew what that was better than they did. She always asked if she could help in anyway and wanted to know all about her friends and their families. Hearing about other people's success and happiness in life always brought a smile to her face. She is predeceased by her husband Charles W. Barton Sr. and her parents A. William and Margaret Forchielli.
