I knew Alan as a brother in law but more so, a friend. I’ve spent a good deal of time with Alan over his last months. As we all know, this was a difficult journey for him. I admired his strength, courage and positive attitude especially with those that cared for him. Never was there a day when I didn’t hear him say thank you to anyone that helped him. And, never did I hear him complain. Alan taught me that life is short and that we should always be thankful and appreciative of those around us. I remember him saying “worry about the stuff that is important”. How true are those words.
So, in the end, Alan left us all with new found lessons. I thank him for showing me how to be strong, how to be grateful and how to appreciate the things that we take for granted in life.
I will miss my buddy. May you rest in peace and watch over my sister and Jet.

I was Alan's caregiver at Accelerate. I took a Saturday off and texted Betty to find out how Alan was doing. Betty said that he was at Chester County Hospital. I went to go see him. When Betty went to the bathroom he called me over and proceeded to let me know it was my fault that he ended up ended up at the hospital because I took that day off. He was very appreciative of me, and I am grateful to have been his caretaker.
