Obituary of Eileen A. Collins

Eileen "Sue" A. Collins age 94 of Swarthmore passed away on July 2, 2021 surrounded by her family. Family and friends have referred to her as an "Angel on Earth". She was independent, strong, compassionate and a remarkable woman who was a blessing to all who knew and loved her. Sue was an optician and hearing aid specialist at Strawbridge and Clothier, where she managed the Optical and Hearing Department. She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed spending time with them. One of the highlights at the family reunions was the candy scramble Sue would put together for the children, and of course the parents helped them gather candy remembering their younger days. Sue never missed a school event for any of her grandchildren from nursery school through college. She was a longtime parishioner of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church where she was active with many church activities throughout the years including the Christmas Bazaar, the Legion of Mary, the church corn boil and she even line danced into her 90's. She is predeceased by her husband Edward P. Collins, brothers Paul "Duke" Johnston and Joseph "Bumps" Johnston, nieces and nephews Paul, Charlie, Joey, Flossy Jay, Claire, Jeanie and Jimmy "the red head" and brother in law Daniel Collier. Survivors: Loving mother of Eileen Espanol and Mary Anne (David A.) Knowles, cherished Gran of David E. Knowles, Sierra Espanol and Patrick (Erin) Knowles and Great Gran of Grayson, Fionn, Lili and Rosie, dear sister of Florence "Nancy" Collier and loving best friend of Josephine Marchesani and many nieces and nephews.
