Obituary of Josephine H. Graziano

Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Josephine H. Graziano, age 96, passed away on June 1, 2020.

Josephine "Jo" Helen Fiorelli Graziano was born on June 18, 1923 in Philadelphia. She was the third child and first daughter born to Louis and Josephine Prete Fiorelli. Jo graduated from West Catholic Girls High School in 1941. She worked as a stenographer until her marriage in 1944. After many years at home raising her children, Jo went to work in 1966 as an accounting clerk at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital (HUP). After several promotions during her twenty-five years of service, Jo retired in 1991 as an account manager at HUP. At 96, Jo was still very active and independent. She maintained her own apartment, prepared her meals daily, and carefully managed her finances. Jo was especially proud that she had her license renewed in 2019, which gave her 4 more years to drive her 20-year-old Honda Civic to the grocery store, the senior centers, and even to the casino in Chester. She also loved taking bus trips to Atlantic City on Sundays with her special friends. Jo was an avid crocheter and liked to challenge herself daily by solving cryptograms. She participated four days a week in the activities at local senior centers and especially enjoyed baking goodies to share with her bingo buddies. Since 1998, Jo was an active volunteer at the Upper Darby Watkins Avenue Senior Center. In 2018, Jo was presented with a citation from President Barack Obama for twenty years of outstanding volunteer service.

Josephine is survived by her daughter Linda (MacNeal), her son Mark, her sister Loretta Agnich, 5 grandsons, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Jo's name to the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital. A memorial fund has been established in her name: Josephine Graziano Memorial Fund:
