William H. Jukes "Bill" age 88 a lifetime resident of Glenolden passed away on July 24, 2011. A U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Jukes retired from Acme Markets in Glenolden at the age of 83. He previously worked as a machinist at Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton for 31 years, an elevator inspector and was a maintenance worker at Glenolden Elementary School and First Presbyterian Church of Glenolden. He was the longest standing member of First Presbyterian Church of Glenolden where he held several positions including Elder, Deacon, Usher, Treasurer, Financial Secretary and Sunday School Superintend. He was President and Board Member of Glendale Heights Ownership Assoc. Bill was also a member of F &A.M. William L. Elkins Masonic Lodge 646. He was also former Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader in Glenolden for 12 years. A devoted family man, he supported his children with all their accomplishments. Brother of the late Kathryn Fraser and Alice Kane. Survivors: Beloved wife of 64 years Mildred L. Jukes Loving father William H. (Linda) Jukes III, Robert (Rosemary) Jukes, Louise (Robert) Noel, Dr. Linda Jukes and extra daughter and exchange student Susan (Eddie) Beddy of Johannesburg, South Africa. Grandfather of 7 and Great Grandfather of 21. Memorial Service: Wed. at 11AM at McCausland-Garrity Funeral Home, 202 S. Chester Pike Glenolden, PA. 19036. Visitation: 10-11AM at the funeral home. Burial: Privately at Knowles Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
